One of my favorite places in New York City. I remember once just randomly pulling a book in a section I liked and sat and read. I've told Spo he could spend weeks in there, just ask for a cot. I like Christmas when they put wreaths around the lions' necks.
A tourist tidbit...Have you walked on Library Way? It's a series of bronze plaques on the sidewalk celebrating literature, 41st Street between 5th and Park Avenues They're on both sides of 41st.
I am sure there are books someplace, I was so amazed by the building and trying to not disturb the readers. There are a couple of rooms that are open to readers only.
I totally agree. It's an architectural masterpiece. I love the reading rooms and everything else about the building. I have two photos, one of me and one of a friend inside one of those phone booths!
Such a fine building. Built to last and with no expense spared. Proud to be a place where books are read or borrowed, making the world a better place to inhabit.
It's a very fine building. I assume there are books somewhere.
