Time Travel Tuesday: A cooler day, January 3rd 2022

This was a very heavy wet snow, and many trees were damaged or destroyed by the weight.

  2. It's quite something how nature transforms a landscape like such. The one reason I love living in the Northeast. We get four distinctive looking seasons.

  4. I suppose you mentioned it at the time but I can't remember. Such snow would be unusual for Washington, I would have thought.

    1. According to the National Weather Service the average annual snowfall in DC in 13.7 inches. Most often that is 2 or 3 snows of 3 to 5 inches each. The first month I was living in the condo, and parking my car outside for the fist time in my life, we had 18 inches of snow in a week.

  5. So absolutely beautiful, and completely crippling to the DC area. I remember a half inch of snow shutting down the city.

  8. It's good to just stay home when we have a big snow like that! I used to love "snow days" when I was a kid! My grandsons don't get snow days off from school anymore, tho! Online learning days from home instead!

    1. Remote work spoiled the joys of a snow day. I will see how they work now that I am retired.

  11. Good to capture those images. They're particularly needed in the depths of summer when one is convinced that it will never be cool again.

Today's forecast is 106F. The forecast for Saturday is 85F. Will be looking for sweaters on Saturday.
