Huntley Meadows is a county park about 2 miles south of the where we live. The site has a long and varied history, but over the past 40 years it has been managed as a wildlife preserve. There are very well maintained walking trails, and long boardwalks over the wetlands. A great place to go walk for an hour.
Snapping turtles don't sound very friendly. I hope the man doesn't overbalance and fall into the water and need recuing. You have taken some great birds in flight photos.
ReplyDeleteAlways joy to see in nature.
DeleteI love those nose-to-tail turtles.
ReplyDeleteThey were back yesterday
DeleteIt all looks very wild and natural.
ReplyDeleteOn a site that was used for testing radio towers, and car crash tests
DeleteThe sort of reminds me of the lake where I used to live in Bucks County. The frogs don't seem to be the only thing looking to mate. The guy looking in the water looks rather intrigued..
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice park to have nearby.
DeleteWe often go down to Congaree National Park where they have a long boardwalk running through the bogs and marshes and forests. It's a peaceful stroll, though no turtles.
ReplyDeleteI bet there are birds
DeleteYes, all kinds.
DeleteWe have many MetroParks in the Dayton area and it's my goal to explore every one of them in the next few months. So many beautiful trails to walk. The bike trail system also connects to many of the parks so time to dust off the bike and get moving!
ReplyDeleteI have been exploring the parks in this, area, a lot of them I never knew existed.
DeleteWhat great photos! My favorite is the turtles lined up on the log. You will have to go back each month to take photos again in the same spots so we can see the seasons changing.
ReplyDeleteThe first signs of Spring - the little white flowers and pink blooms - are so special to see!
I was out there yesterday, the turtles were out.
DeleteA great set of nature photos here! I love the line-up of turtles on the log.
ReplyDeleteWarming in the sun
DeleteTurtles can be such orderly creatures! Love the pink blossoms.
ReplyDeleteBunnies are all over the place, and hamsters are just fun, funny, and fuzzy.
DeleteGlad you showed a photo of some blossoms. It a sure sign warmer weather is on it way.
ReplyDeleteThe change in the last ten days is amazing, spring is here.
DeleteIt's always nice to see a picture of a wet beaver. Mind you - dry beavers are fine too.
ReplyDeleteThere an amazing number of wild creatures here.
DeleteThat picture of the line of turtles is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI was out there on Monday, and there were several large snapping turtles sunning themselves.
