Travel Tuesday - Italy

Italy, I have been there twice, I would go back on a moments notice. Italy has history, but it is also modern.  It has a wonderful climate, warm, dry, with mountains in the north.  It has food, glorious seasonal, local food.  Wine, simple, unpretentious, drinkable.  There are places I have been, and I would go back to any of them, there are places I have not been and can't wait to see.

Could I live there? For a few weeks or months, but I doubt that I could cope with the red tape  on a long term basis.

  1. Awwwww Italy. I look forward to going. In 2020 should have been our trip to Lake Como and Portfolio. As for the rest, maybe someday.

  2. I was there many times in the '70s thanks to having a good friend there. I loved it, but when we were debating places to live in Europe, I quickly crossed it off the list. Still, I've been dying to go back for a visit. We even talked a few years ago of driving up, across, and down stopping everywhere on our way to Sicily where my friend now lives (her childhood home). OR we can just swim directly east.

    1. It would be a fun drive, next month you can do it. Is there a ferry across the Med?

    2. There are ferries but not from where we are in the south, and not to Sicily from Spain. I know there's a ferry from Barcelona to Genoa (probably too much time on the water for SG). He can handle an hour and a half... maybe! Anyway, my second vaccine isn't until the end of July and then I've got NYC less than a month later. Maybe Tuscany again one of these days. I've lost touch with the old, old friend in Sicily. She often disappears for years at a time.

  5. I feel pretty much the same about Italy. I'd love to spend more time in Rome and Florence.
