I started watching the Indianapolis 500 as a teenager, I have missed only a couple of them, I even hid a small television in a bottom desk drawer a couple of times when I had to work on race day. The race is normally Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend in May. This year it is delayed to August 23rd. Let's hope by then there is a safe crowd in the stands.
I have never been there for the race, I have gone twice for qualifying weekends. It is truly amazing to watch the cars go by at over 200 miles per hour. I am ready and waiting for the greatest spectacle in racing.
Auto racing is simply lost on me. I'm glad you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWe all have our excentricities
DeleteI say enjoy if you must. But I find it a bore to watch cars going around in a ring over and over. I'd sooner see two nearly naked men covered in honey wrestling for my affections.
ReplyDeleteWhat network televises your spectacle?
DeleteMacho Man, watching car racing. Don't they pass by so quickly you can't really see them?
ReplyDeleteOh, you can see, you can hear, you can feel them go by. Probably the best views are on screen. I like open wheel racing, Indy, Formula 1,
DeleteI have been to a few races, not really into them but they are fun to see every now and then.
DeleteI don't understand the concept of a continuous loop of high speed left turns as entertainment myself. To each their own. It's a metaphor for some people. Going nowhere fast. Now I can get it up (whatever "it" is with women) for a Monster Truck rally if I had to choose between them.
ReplyDeleteIt is about engineering, being on the edge of capacity, strategy, - you should try Rally Car racing
DeleteHearing race cars in the distance always makes me think of a swarm of angry bees.
ReplyDeleteA unique sound
Deletenot into that. I am missing baseball on the radio though.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful broadcast to call asleep to
DeleteThis strikes me as a very silly past time. I wonder how it is faring given it requires people sitting still watching cars go round and round. I imagine the younger ones having no interest in it or if they go they are mostly on their phones not paying attention?
ReplyDeleteThey are trying virtual racing, really a video game.
