Lincoln Convertible


NICE! Very nice.  This is what a luxury car should look like.  Long, roomy, elegant.  Lots of space in the front seat and back seat, enough trunk space to fit my little convertible in the trunk. A luxury car should not look like a sports car, or a truck. The mid-60's slab side, suicide door Lincoln, convertible or sedan, should be the pin up on the wall of every luxury car designer.  Build something inspired by this, and they will come. 

 Can you imagine trying to park this beast?

    that ain't a car, it's a boat! you could stuff several bodies in that trunk. that's when american cars were great; well built, solid steel, made you proud to drive one. those days are long gone.

      By todays standards, underpowered and poor handling. In 1965 - big engine and luxury amenities like power windows and lock, FM radio.

    Wow! We had a Lincoln Continental convertible for awhile when I was a kid. We kids loved when Daddy took the wheel. He would let it go topless with his girls riding with him, heading out to the beach. My mother was the killjoy. When she drove the top had to be up. I loved that car. One of the very few good memories I have of childhood.
    Now, parking that monster? Yep, I can do it as long as I don't have to parallel park between two cars. I can't do that no matter what car I'm driving, and yet still they gave me a license. In parking lots, I can turn right into a space, but turning left causes problems. And yet STILL they gave me a license. Go figure.

      My parking test was, get it stopped without hitting anything and you pass. One of my colleagues hasn’t made a left turn in 20 years, she plans her routes for all right turns.

      Ah, a woman after my own heart! With me, left turns only with a traffic light or at least a stop sign!

    I had my friends' Lincoln one summer in New York. Yes, I can imagine trying to park that beast! But, no, not my style. I prefer those sexy little sporty cars.

    If I had a car like this I would be terrified to drive it anywhere (let along NYC!) lest it get damaged.
