Fabulous Friday: Music

I enjoy a wide array of music. There is almost always music playing in the background of my life. Classican, jazz, rock from the last half of the last century, a little country and western, folk music, solo piano, harpsichord, or cello. I prefer a singer that I can understand.

I dislike and avoid music that is angry, or vulgar. I also avoid classical Opera, the one's where it sounds like the vocalist is being tortured. Some modern Opera in English and in a register within the spectrum of normal human communication is enjoyable.

Music adds a rhythm to my life. It can make me laugh. It can bring me to tears. It can quiet the noise in my brain.

Music is fabulous.

    1. And your recall of music from the 50's and 60's is amazing.

  2. I love a wide array of music too. And yes, I even enjoy "controlled screaming" a.k.a classical opera. It is remarkably moving.

  3. I listen to music when I am in my car. I listen to current music and never know all of the lyrics but sing and dance along anyway! Rock has always been my favorite but I enjoy some Rap too...

  4. That's quite a selection of music you enjoy. I like a wide range too but it seems like I've stopped adding new artists after the year 2000. I think Amy Winehouse might be the only one I took a liking to in the past 20 years.

    1. Most of what I listen to is from the last half of the last century.

  5. As a tinnitus sufferer I use music to help me cope with the constant buzzes and squeaks I experience all the time. I put my radio (on a local station) on as soon as I get up and it stays on all day.

  6. I was just listening to my Ella Fitzgerald Live in Berlin cd yesterday. So satisfying. Yes, keeping my Bose cd player is a hill I'm willing to die on!

  8. I wake up every single day with a song playing in my head. Sometimes it's something I'd recently heard and sometimes it's something I've not heard in ages.

  9. Apparently we have VERY similar tastes in music, as I love al the genres you mentioned and dislike everyone of the types of music you dislike. We're like Music Twins! (A opposed to Musical Twins...or Wonder Twins for that matter.)
