It is a rugged landscape, with mountains, and geothermal activity. Idaho has a relatively small population. It's major export is oil, its major import is older adults from California.
Idho is isolated, you have to intend to go there. In 25 years of work related travel, it is one of a handful of states I never had a reason to go to. I wouldn't want to live there, but it is very much worth visiting. I would go back. A dear friend of mine retired and moved there a few years ago.
While staying at your elegant hotel must have felt like you were living in your own private Idaho.
ReplyDeleteIt was very quiet.
DeleteNever been and also looks like one of those States I don't know if I would have a desire to see, but I admit from your picture sure looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI myself am on my way to Philly for the grand finale concert of the Wanamaker Oregon today
There is a lot of nature and untouched land in Idaho. The Organ shall rise again.
DeleteBeautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteIn a small town with a hot spring run.
DeleteI have been through there but I don't think I ever stopped.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who moved there years ago ... hated it and left.
It's allegedly very very red and very very white sheets.
The winters are rather cold for my taste.
DeleteMy husband went on a white water rafting trip on the Snake River in Idaho. I haven't been there...yet.
ReplyDeleteThere is a train from Chicago to Seattle?
DeleteI remember beautiful scenery but like you, I wouldn't want to live there.
ReplyDeleteOmar moved there after he retired to be near his mother, she sold and moved to Denver shortly after he did.
DeleteLovely photo.
ReplyDeleteA pretty little town.
DeleteAlthough I’ve been the states that border Idaho, I don’t think I’ve ever been there. I have good friends from college who moved to Boise, but they weren’t enough of a draw. And I sure wouldn’t go there now.
ReplyDeleteA very red corner of the country.
DeleteLike you, I visited southeastern Idaho once on my way back from Yellowstone Park to Arizona. We had a picnic lunch at a beautiful blue lake but I can't remember the name of it or find it on a map. Maybe it was a dream. Now, like many of your other commenters, I don't dream of Idaho except as a place for gun-loving, right wing, conspiracy theorists with little real intelligence.
ReplyDeleteThat is the corner of the state I visited. I hadn't made plans far enough in advance for Yellowstone to be practical
DeleteI nearly got to Idaho when we visited The Pacific North West in 2014 but there just wasn't enough time to justify such a diversion. I believe that the legendary Carole King made her home there many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe distances can be rather long.
DeleteThey are Trumpsters and proud of it still.
ReplyDeleteI have to remember, some people are very happy with what is happening, until the price of eggs goes up.
