A toaster, a coffee maker, and a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, three appliances that live on my limited kitchen counter space. I have had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for over 20 years. It is an amazing machine. It mixes, it whips with a whisk, and it kneads dough, bread dough, pizza dough. Not only does it do these things, it does a great job. I have a drawer full of accessories. a grater, a shredder, a couple of different grinders, pasta rollers, a pasta extruder and an ice cream freezer. The grinder attachment is one of my favorites. I have an after market stainless steel one, that will make ground meat out of almost anything, and when you are done every part of it runs in the dishwasher.
The coffee maker gets used everyday. The toaster, two or three times a week. The Kitchen Aid mixer, at least once a week, some weekends I use it two or three times in a single day. Would I buy one, yes, could I live without it, it would be hard, life would be different.
I love my Kithen Aid. At least 25 years now. And I love the meat grinder, although mine is the plastic variety (and it has a crack in it so I may need to replace it one day). I use it all the time. I didn't know they made ice cream freezer attachments. I'll have to look into that. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazon sells a lot of after market accessories. The all stainless steel grinder is really great.
DeleteOne of our most useful appliances and is used often is the stick blender. It came with attachments including containers to put food in to chop, slice or dice. We used to have a Kenwood mixer like your Kitchen Aid but although it could do many things we only used it for cake mixing, but it did have a dough hook, never used and a whisk that was used at times.
ReplyDeleteJay gave me a stick blender as a gift a couple of years ago, it does things nothing else will
DeleteI have microwave and a hand blender and that's it. I can't stand appliances taking up room. And bread and cakes get kneaded or mixed by hand. I do use my mother Kitchen Aid when home sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIn an effort to reduce clutter we are blenderless. I would toss the toaster to keep the Kitchen Aid.
DeleteWe don't have a Kitchen Aid, but I love the look of them. We have what is known here as a "robot de cocina" (kitchen robot). I call her Rosie.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have seen the European robot coupe, it much more useful than my food processor.
Deleteon my counter are the following: toaster/convection oven, toaster, coffee maker, can opener. the microwave hangs over the electric stove. all these appliances get used at least 1x/day.
ReplyDeleteI also have a bread maker, a hand mixer, a blender, a coffee bean grinder, a stand mixer, and a pizzelle iron. these tools are kept in a cabinet under the counter, ready for use when needed.
we buy schmidt's potato rolls too!
toaster ovens? I never have understood
DeleteI've had a toaster oven since the 70s. I just pulled a loaf of homemade beer bread from the toaster oven 10 minutes ago. beats heating up the large stove oven, especially in summer.
DeleteWe have a coffee maker, an espresso maker, and a microwave on the counter.
ReplyDeleteThe Kitchen Aid Stand mixer, the toaster, and the Cuisinart are all cupboarded, though used quite regularly.
The kitchen aid is heavy
DeleteI love those Three Bears ads!
ReplyDeleteSo Fun!
DeleteI want one!! I've been using a hand-held mixer for way too long!
ReplyDeleteI ordered on Amazon the last time, I use it enough to really make it worth having.
