My answers:
1: Is there passenger rail service available where you live? Yes, the nearest Amtrak station is about a 1.5 miles from home.
2: How far is the nearest airport with airline service? About 5 miles.
3: Do you drive? Yes, often.
4: Given a choice of planes, trains or automobiles for a trip of 500 miles, what is your choice? For 500 miles, fly.
5: Have you traveled by long distance on a bus? Only once when I was a teenager.

1. Yes. Seven tram routes pass by with a stop in front of my building. A large railway station is five minutes away by tram and our major suburban station is ten minutes away by tram.

3. Yes, but point 1 will inform you that there is no need for me to drive often.
4. 500 miles is about 800 kilometres. If there is a decent train service, certainly by train. I detest airports.
5. The same as you and I think it was overnight and two full days. Never, ever again.

Spain, France and Italy have the best train service.

It would depend on where I was, how much time I had spare and what I was travelling for plus cost comparison. If I was in the middle of The Sahara Desert I would choose camel but that wasn't one of the options.
5: Have you traveled by long distance on a bus? Yes. Sheffield to London (180 miles) but once London to Athens (Greece) - 2140 miles.
Oh and I have also travelled on several Greyhound buses in America - including New York to Cleveland and Bloomington, Indiana to Minneapolis via Chicago.

Delete1. Amtrak rolls through downtown Cleveland. All trains leave or arrive around 02:00. I'm not kidding.

Amtrak needs to work on the east west services.
