Another one close to home, the Kennedy Center is about 8 miles from home, a 20 minute drive if there is no traffic, an hour plus in heavy traffic and snow. There are many theaters in the Center. The exterior is boxy, I have heard it described as the box the Lincoln Memorial Came in. The views from the Center are nice, and when you are there you can't see the building.

I miss the place. We used to attend performances all the time.
ReplyDeleteOne reason to live here
DeleteI like the modernity. I guess that is the Potomac River featured, with its very alien name. I expect it is pronounced differently to how I would pronounce it. It seems like you had a good day out.
ReplyDeletePot o mick, it is based on an native american word.
DeleteVery boxy indeed! But what's inside is more important.
ReplyDeleteSome great spaces inside,
DeleteI keep forgetting how flat DC is. Loved seeing the pictures of the musicians.
ReplyDeleteVery flat
DeleteI love a good symphony hall.
ReplyDeleteBut I love the statement "It's the box Lincoln Memorial came in."
The exterior was cheaply done.
DeleteI've been to the Kennedy Center a few times when in my teaching days we took the 8th graders on their end of the year field trip to Gettysburg and Washington DC. The kids who were in the music programs were wide-eyed impressed with the venue; the others loved looking at the views from the balcony. Sometime I'm going to attend a performance there.
ReplyDeleteThere are often school groups in the balcony.
DeleteOh my! It's me... NB blog followers: I am not the one digging in the dirt with the bushy tail.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't dug in the dirt in years.
DeleteGreat photos! I've only been there once back around 1999. I remember being so excited to be there!
ReplyDeleteIt is fun just to walk around.
