One of the joys of train travel is passing through the backyards of the world. Our world is designed to face the streets, to face forward. Train tracks pass through rural areas, forests, and backyards. Not the side of the world that people plan to be seen, but the real side of the world.
I love to grab a seat by the window, I can watch the world roll by for hours.
If you want to get somewhere fast, very high speed trains are good, but they are not so good for the magic of staring out a train window at whatever you pass by.
ReplyDeleteVery true, and the slow trains often take the old line and stop in every little village (Italy.)
DeleteThat was one of the things I liked about the regional rail where I lived. From Doylestown to Philly it was a beautiful ride. And in this case the backs of the houses were just as lovely as the front. I'll never I'll never forget seeing a naked guy on his deck get ready to jump in the pool!
ReplyDeleteSights you wouldn't see from driving by the front, for sure.
DeleteI can and do so the same, I hope you’ll enjoy the views from the trains here.
ReplyDeleteI am sure we will
DeleteSometimes there are terrifying things in the back yards.
ReplyDeleteAs Maddie has seen
DeleteI love that too! I have good memories of a train ride from Wales back to London on Guy Fawkes night.
ReplyDeleteThat would be wild
DeleteWe are promising ourselves to get back to train travel next year..I really miss it.
