Mitchell in Person

Mitchell from over at Mitchell is Moving, was in Washington DC for a few days visiting family and seeing the sights.  We met for coffee and cake one afternoon.

He is every bit as genuine, friendly, and fun in person, as he is on his blog.  I asked how they ended up in Spain, and the answer was surprisingly simple, they wanted to live someplace different, made a choice and moved.  They left behind the rat race.

It was great fun spending an hour talking, getting to know the person I felt I already knew from reading his blog.

Let me know if you are going to be in the DC area.  I have met half a dozen bloggers, all well over four feet, and all really nice people.

Have you ever dreamed of moving to another country?

  1. Mitchell has the right idea. Friends I know still working that have moved say their is a better balance of work and life then here. All Americans seem to do is work, work and more work and never enjoy life.

Move? I am being pressured by Warbucks to move abroad. He has already sold two homes, one left. I won't be going because of such little family left....but when their passed on....who knows....all bets are off.

I can tell Mitchell is a big sweetheart!

You're a big sweetheart for saying that. I have not one single regret regarding the move to Spain. Maybe Daddy Warbucks can get you your own little jet for regular family visits.

  5. I did dream of it, and then I DID IT! I moved to a small town outside of Frankfurt, West Germany, in 1985 to teach English to 7th graders and direct high school dramatics for two years at a private international school. We had students from 42 different countries. The instruction was in English, and Germany was taught from kindergarten on; French was begun in 7th grade. If a student stayed all the way through, he/she would graduate with a fluency in their language of origin, English, Germany and French! Imagine their prospects.

It was the best teaching job I've ever had, and the travel and cultural opportunities were endless.
