I was a little hesitant when I first read that there was a port call in Cartagena, the one in central America is infamous for drug violence, the one in Spain is not. It is amazing.
His friend walked a bike down the stairs, and held the foot traffic so this guy could ride down the stairs, my it looked like fun.
On top of a hill overlooking the city are the remains of a church, and a Roman theater. It was a long climb, but worth it.
Lots of narrow winding streets.
Love the light fixture
I always think of Colombia first when I hear or read Cartagena. Spain’s looks like a wonderful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI understand the one in Colombia has become safe and interesting, but the reputation is deep in our memories.
DeleteI didn't know there was a Cartagena in Spain. Gorgeous city; I love those narrow streets and I would have loved riding a bike down those steps.
ReplyDeleteThose KKK dolls? I know they aren't but I can't help it!
It would be a fun place to stay, or live.
DeleteLooks like a great place to explore. Those Romans were everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSpain is worth more time.
DeleteThose steps remind me of the "Exorcist Steps" in DC. The Roman influence spans so much of the European continent.
ReplyDeleteIt was part of the Roman Empire.
DeleteI had to look up Cartagena on a map. Not a part of Spain I've ever been to! But it looks like a great place, as long as no kids are plummeting down the stairs toward me on a bicycle.
ReplyDeleteThe coast of Spain is pretty and fun. A friend of the guy on the bike, made sure no one was on the steps before the descent
DeleteA lot of stairs and walking! The people must get lots of exercise! Reminds me of the narrow walkways in Venice.
ReplyDeleteThere is probably a way to take a taxi to the top of the hill.
DeleteThe street lamps are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI guess there is a causeway to the lighthouse.
The lighthouse was on a point at the end of the harbor. A very small harbor and a very large ship.
DeleteLot of history.
ReplyDeleteVery deep history.
