Travel Tuesday: High School Art at the Briscoe Museum of Western Art
The Briscoe Museum of Western Art in San Antonio Texas has a special exhibit of western themed art by high school students in Texas. Below are some of my favorites from probably 50 pieces on display.
A member of museum staff explained that the older man in the hat, was the grandfather of the artist, and came to the show opener, wearing the hat and expression.
Not a theme I’m drawn to, but beautiful works.
ReplyDeleteAnd all done by teenagers
DeleteLugo's drawing of an old man's face is impressive, as is Bowdoin's painting of a sad young cowboy.

DeleteIvor Ethan Lugo's portrait is brilliant for one so young. I was startled to discover that "Vaquera" is not in fact a photograph.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work for young artists, hope for the future.
DeleteVery nice, but I think I have learned I'm not moved in any direction by western art. Alas.
