The Sunday Five: Mascots and Silliness

1: Do you have a special name for your car?

2: Is there something that you have moved from car to car, sort of a mascot?

3: How would you respond when the driver next to you points out that there is a giant panda in the back seat of your car?

4: Have you ever had a special or custom license or number plates on your car?

5: Are there any bumper stickers on your car?

My Answers:

1: Do you have a special name for your car? The Pandavagon, it is a Volkswagen with a Panda in the back seat.

2: Is there something that you have moved from car to car, sort of a mascot? There is a small teddy bear, backseat bear, who has been in my cars since the early 1990s.

3: How would you respond when the driver next to you points out that there is a giant panda in the back seat of your car? My favorite was, "Oh, not again!"

4: Have you ever had a special or custom license or number plate on your car? I lived in Lexington Kentucky home to the University of Kentucky and go big blue, I drove a red Cadillac Eldorado with University of Louisville, Go Cardinals on it. That brought a few unkind remarks from the locals.

5: Are there any bumper stickers on your car?  No, none.

  4. 1. The official paint colour of my car is Pearl White. She is called Pearl.
    2. No mascots in my car, although perhaps the tartan rug on the rear parcel shelf of my Humber Super Snipe was a mascot. I picked it up one day and it fell apart in my hands.
    3. I hope the panda is toilet trained.
    4. No, and while many complain about the cost of living, so many people can afford hundreds and even thousands for a special number plate.
    5. On my Humber back window I had a Thai Cocoa Cola sticker. The Thai script looked like the word TAN. That's the only one. My step father had a bumper sticker 'Save the planet. Plant a Greenie'. OMG, how he and my sister used to argue about the environment.

2: Is there something that you have moved from car to car, sort of a mascot? A small smooth stone I have sitting on the dash or somewhere within reach for every car I've owned since the 90s. Also, after my mother passed I saw an old rosary that belonged to Carlos and said it somehow reminded me of my mother, who was not Catholic. But the rosary hangs from the rearview mirror and I give it a tug every time I start off in the car.
