Oregon is south of Washington State, and north of California on the Pacific coast of the United States. The coast is spectacular, rugged, rocky, tree lined. The Pacific Northwest Coastline has a moderate climate that is seldom frozen and seldom super hot, with lots and lots of rain. I have not visited the central or eastern part of the state. In the mountains the climate would be significantly colder.
This is a spectacular part of the country. Very worth seeing. I would go back anytime. I would live there, except I think housing prices make DC look cheap, and the place is crawling with refugees from California.
When you have the opportunity, go explore that corner of the country. You will wish you had more time to spend there.

DeleteThat's one state that I have visited. Portland city centre seemed like an angry place but we loved the rose gardens and the Holocaust Memorial. We drove along the southern shore of the mighty Columbia River to Hood River before crossing back into Washington State.

DeletePortland is the most leftist city in the country--that's a compliment not a complaint--but it does mean that there's always somebody angry about something. Happily, they always break for coffee, which is what one does in Portland.
DeleteOregon is quite beautiful and has a little of everything from coastlines to forests to mountains and even deserts in the eastern half.
ReplyDeleteMy parents moved to Oregon from California in the early 2000s so I have visited there possibly 40 to 50 times. My mother passed away in 2007 and my Dad in 2024 so now Oregon, especially Central Coast Oregon, is, for me, just the place where my parents died and I don't know if I'll go back there.
It is a pretty place, those memories can impact a lot.
DeleteMy daughter lived in Portland for a year. When we visited we went to the vineyards, explored all around Portland, and hiked at Multnomah Falls. The food scene was strong - lots of good restaurants and a city block filled with food trucks. Oregon is beautiful and I would love to drive along its coast.

DeleteI love visiting Oregon. First it was the gorgeous coastline and then it was the wine country in the middle of the state. It's all beautiful.

ReplyDeleteMy son-in-law is from Oregon and he and our younger daughter lived in Medford for a number of years before retiring to Padre Island, Texas. Quite a change for them.
