I love a good fog, a fine and misty morning. On the farm in Michigan we would occasionally get a good fog, I can remember riding the school bus on a foggy back road on a colorful autumn morning. The first winter I spent in Florida, we lived on the Gulf coast north of Tampa in an area that was prone to incredible fog. The parts of Orlando that I lived in seldom saw fog. Kentucky gets fog along the River, but we lived 10 miles from the nearest river. Here in DC, we get fog off of the Potomac River. A few mornings recently have been hauntingly beautiful.
I have experienced Pacific coastal fog a few times. It is wonderfully dense, one time along the coast north of San Francisco I watched it go from clear to almost to dense to drive in 15 minutes. It was wonderful.
Do you get fog where you live?
we've had fog the last 3 mornings. ours comes off the schuylkill (pronounced SURE-kill) river 2 miles away. SFO fog is epic.

DeleteI have yet to experience fog anywhere like San Francisco. You literally see that move in and take over...its eerie.

DeleteFog is common here, early in the morning mostly. I love it in concept, but hate driving in it...scary.

DeleteWe get fog very rarely. In fact, I think it's been 4 years since I've seen any fog here. Fingers crossed we will have some this winter. I love photographing in the fog.

DeleteOn the prairies, we can get a misty kind of fog in low-lying areas in the summer but it never lasts long. In the bitter cold of winter, we get "ice fog" from car exhaust in the cities.

DeleteWe get fog here, but it's not too heavy. Now, when I used to drive up once a week to Sacramento to babysit, the heavy sh..., uh, stuff would engulf the freeway and scare me to death. I just plowed my Buick thru it like a deranged (but careful) fogdozer. San Diego was worse. I got caught coming home from a late holiday shift and a block away from my house the fog became so thick I couldn't see anything. I wanted to park and wait it out, but the street was narrow, and I knew a neighbor had an RV parked there. I managed, and this just brought the feelings crashing back :) I actually like fog, if I don't have to be out in it.

DeleteAt times we have fog here but with the city now so warm, we don't get the thick fog we once did and nor does it drop below freezing, so no iced puddles anymore.

DeletePartly I think, but mostly a city becoming hotter by a growing population with air con and transport emissions.
