Sunday Five - Christmas
This picture was taken 12 years ago, it was the first time in several years that my parents and all of the kids were together, the next time was late in Mom's life. I bought the T-shirts - Mom got the joke.
Hence this weeks Sunday five:
1: Will you be with your parents or siblings this holiday season?
2: Do you send cards or gifts to your siblings?
3: What is your favorite "holiday only" food?
4: Where is home?
5: Has your whole family ever worn matching shirts?
My Answers:
1: Will you be with your parents or siblings this holiday season? No
2: Do you send cards or gifts to your siblings? Yes, both are done
3: What is your favorite "holiday only" food? An orange cranberry sauce.
4: Where is home? This is complicated, I have lived in five states. Michigan was my original home, but I left there in 1977. This picture was taken in my parents home in Florida.
5: Has your whole family ever worn matching shirts? See above.

1: Will you be with your parents or siblings this holiday season? Parents died in 2009. I'll be with my spouse, two sisters, one brother-in-law, one niece and spouse, and the only grandkid, a 12-year-old named Ike.
ReplyDelete2: Do you send cards or gifts to your siblings? We don't really do gifts any more, but we make things for each other--I make gourmet white chocolate party mix with cashews, and Christmasy M&Ms, and other chocolate treats.
3: What is your favorite "holiday only" food? We make a punch of lime sherbet and sprite--it's very addicting. I also make this thing with party rye spread with a mixture of mayo, grated sharp cheddar, chopped olives and onions, topped with Baco bits, and baked until melted and sizzling.
4: Where is home? Anderson, Indiana. I left in 1972, moved back to the area in 1990, and now live about 25 minutes away.
5: Has your whole family ever worn matching shirts? Never, thank God.

ReplyDelete2: Do you send cards or gifts to your siblings? A custom calendar for my brother.
3: What is your favorite "holiday only" food? Kransekake!
4: Where is home? Wherever I'm living; so, currently, Fuengirola.
5: Has your whole family ever worn matching shirts? Never. But I did have shirts like yours made for Jerry and his two sisters to wear for Christmas '99. Their mother died that Thanksgiving!
Hello, David. New reader here. I've come over after reading Old Lurker's heartfelt homage to you and your blog. So to answer your questions:
ReplyDelete1. This is the first Christmas in my life when I will not see both my parents. My father died in 2004 and my mother just died this summer.
2. I send a card and gifts to my sister every year. I sent my brother a Christmas card this year for the first time in probably 20 years? A long estrangement has recently had a bit of a detente.
3.Mince tarts!
4. Home is currently Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
5. Never, but how I wish we had a family photo like the one you posted! Too funny!
