A dear friend asked if life was really as "humdrum" as I make it sound. Life can be stressful. I carry most stress and worry internally. After 34 odd years, Sweet Bear still has a hard time reading when I am down, or stressed. I know, but I don't show it. Maybe I learned to repress my feeling from my parents (they were a product of their upbringing.)
I have spent years learning not to let stress get to me. Most of what we worry about either already has happened or never will happen. And the rest we often have limited control over. I do what I can, little things like VOTING, but the rest is fate. I am sure I will be surprised to wake up dead someday, but I know it will happen. I assume the stress will all end at that point.
This is not to say I don't have opinions. Oh, I do. I was reading a policy paper the other day, and responded with the following comment, "we need affordable housing, not homeless concentration camps." In eight words, everyone knew how I felt about a current administration policy.
I try to be kind to others. I send cards, and sometimes gifts. While it is nice to hear back, my real goal is to brighten the day of another person. Kind of like a radio transmission, we send it out there, and hope that someone hears it. But often you never really know.
On my blog I try to send out a positive message. To make someone's day just a little better. If I reach one person, it is mission accomplished.
So yes, life is a bit stressful at the moment. Such is life. Bloom where you are planted. When the horn honks, maybe it is a comment on your looks and not your driving.

Hmmm. I never think your life sounds humdrum. It sounds rich and satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI seldom appear to be upset - is more of what he was saying.
DeleteOh, give me humdrum ANY DAY over sturm und drang! I've had enough of the latter to last a lifetime. I think that stress management is the most important skill we need to develop! Too bad we aren't just born with that knowledge, life would be so much easier. That, and a gazillion bucks.
ReplyDeleteI have wasted a lot of energy in the past, fussing and going nowhere.
DeleteI have been known to carry my stress internally, but I am getting better at not doing that.
ReplyDeleteBut I also don't let it get me; let it out and let it go.
You certainly vent your political angst.
DeleteI don't think it's possible to have a life be stress free, or I don't know anyone who doesn't have stress. I just try my damnest to not let things get to me, especially if it's something out of my control. I have gotten good about that.
ReplyDeleteThe wisdom of age for some of us. You will get older someday, in another few decades.
DeleteMission accomplished!
ReplyDeleteThanks,

ReplyDeleteWe can't change yesterday, and who knows what tomorrow might bring.
DeleteI am a worrier but I'm also a helper so if I am worrying about someone or some situation I will try to help to make it better. I don't always succeed but I'm trying...
ReplyDeleteI have had to work on not being a fixer.
