Travel Tuesday: Mt Vernon walk

The Mansion is in the final stages of a massive restoration.

Setting up on the green for the premier of the Ken Burns documentary on the American Revolution

Open from the butlers Pantry to the basement of the mansion.

George Washington's desk and chair.

  1. Georges' chair looks well enough padded but not terribly ergonomic. There must be some nice autumn tree colour now.

  2. The fifth picture scared the shit out of me. I thought I could see the ghost of George Washington in the glass but then I realised it was just your reflection. Suddenly, my fear doubled.

    1. Fear not the ghosts of the past, it is the living who are out to get you.

  4. Very nice pictures. Seems like years since I've been there. If I ever come down you and I will have to walk there.

    1. I am walking out there about once a week, the trees are just past the peak of color and we had a hard freeze last night.

  8. Thank goodness the current president hasn't been involved in the restoration.
I wonder what George would think of you know who.

    1. Mt Vernon was saved by a committee of women, is privately owned by a foundation, and does not accept government funding. It has remained open, while most of DC is shut down.
