2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey?
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird?
4: Do you detest turkey?
5: Canberrys from a can, or cooked from fresh?
My Answers:
1: When was the last time you saw live turkeys (feathered or political)? This pair is out at Mt. Vernon, I check on them everytime I go there for a stroll.
2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey? Roast.
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird? I have changed on this, outside of the bird. The bird cooks better, and the stuffing/dressing is just as good.
4: Do you detest turkey? I rather like it.
5: Cranberries from a can, or cooked from fresh? Cooked from fresh, let me know if you need tips on how to cook cranberries.

1: When was the last time you saw live turkeys (feathered or political)? Last week there were wild turkeys in the parking lot at the gym
ReplyDelete2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey? Roast, otherwise how are you going to get all the pan drippings for the gravy?
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird? It's dressing, so it is by definition outside the bird.
4: Do you detest turkey? No.
5: Cranberries from a can, or cooked from fresh? Cooked fresh - recommend riffing off a cranberry chutney recipe from the old Gourmet magazine (a lot depends upon the weather and the mood of the cook). Remember that cranberry relish can also be used to accompany roasted chicken, pork, or other rich foods when you want a sharp slightly acidic note (try it with cream cheese on a plain bagel).

Delete1. I have seen them but I can't remember where or when, so it must have been a while ago.
ReplyDelete2. I would roast it.
3. I'd be inclined to cook the stuffing inside, unless I knew outside was definitely better.
4. I don't really like it, but I eat it if served a portion.
5. Definitely canned. I would prefer to have a cranberry sauce, and probably bought.
Turkeys are native to North America, I was close to 30 the first time I saw one in the wild.
Delete1: When was the last time you saw live turkeys (feathered or political)? Can’t remember exactly (for either)l
ReplyDelete2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey? Roast (well, someone would roast it for me).
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird?
I’ve been told outside.
4: Do you detest turkey? No, I like it.
5: Canberrys from a can, or cooked from fresh? Canberries from a cran... Nope. Fresh, please.
I have a vision of you and Lucille Ball trying to cook a turkey.
DeleteO that would be quite a sight! 🤣🤣🤣
DeleteIn that case Lucy would be the straight man.
Delete1: When was the last time you saw live turkeys (feathered or political)? Been a while for the feathered ones but living in SC we see political turkeys often.
ReplyDelete2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey? Deep frying scares me ... I picture explosions an half cooked turkeys bombs, so we roast.
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird? Outside, though years back inside was said to be fine.
4: Do you detest turkey? I like it.
5: Canberrys from a can, or cooked from fresh? Carlos makes fresh so it's gotta be fresh!
I still have some fresh ones from last year in the freezer.
Delete1: When was the last time you saw live turkeys (feathered or political)? Saw one at a MetroPark last week.
ReplyDelete2: Would you roast, or deep fry a turkey? Roast. We have fried a turkey a couple times and it's very tasty, but my preference is to pop it in the oven and let it roast.
3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird? Outside.
4: Do you detest turkey? It's not my favorite but I will eat one small piece of turkey and then fill my plate with all the other goodies. Love the mashed potatoes with giblet gravy!
5: Cranberries from a can, or cooked from fresh? Definitely fresh!
Outside the bird seems to be winning the poll.
DeleteI used to like cranberries somewhat, but since I've eaten your preparations I absolutely adore them! I don't perceive much difference between inside or outside stuffing; inside is more traditional and the way my ancestors did it when they celebrated Franz-Josef Day. 🦃🦃🦃🦤
ReplyDeleteI really should do something with the cranberries in the freezer.
Delete1. Can't remember
ReplyDelete2. Roast
3. Stuffing outside
4. no, I like turkey

3: Should stuffing or dressing be cooked inside or outside of the bird? Outside
4: Do you detest turkey? Not at all
5: Cranberrys from a can, or cooked from fresh? cooked fresh however, I do have an interesting recipe using the canned jellied ones.
I have made cranberry pies a couple of times.
Delete1. The world is infested with political turkeys right now.
ReplyDelete2. Roasted/deep fried -- I've had both and they were delicious.
3. Stuffing inside or outside the bird? Both are needed because there's never enough from inside the bird.
4. I like turkey -- freshly cooked and then one meal of leftovers, no more.
5. Canned and homemade cranberries -- both are delicious!
We are with you, one day of leftovers and a couple of sandwiches, and we have had enough. We really need smaller birds.
DeleteI saw a deep fried turkey once it was a novelty but nothing better - and it was dangerous. Mother served both types of cranberry yet I don't remember if anyone actually ate the canned stuff.
ReplyDeleteCousin Lysle deep fried a turkey one year at my parent's home.
DeleteHaven't seen one in ages.
ReplyDeleteRoasted. Had one deep fried in a receptacle once and it wasn't anything special.
Always outside.
I love it, my wife doesn't, so we don't have it.
Canned. Never tried homemade.
I cook fewer turkeys than I did in the past,
DeleteLast time I saw a live turkey? Used to enjoy seeing them when I worked on the Blue Ridge Parkway. One season I had 2 females with their broods hang around ranger quarters all summer. One fall morning I opened my door to find the entire flock around my government car, looking over it, under it, pecking the chrome, like they were thinking about renting it to drive south.
ReplyDeleteRoast or deep fry? Roast. Though with just the 2 of us, I've a very good crock pot recipe for turkey cutlets with rosemary and cream.
Stuffing inside or outside? Outside. Stuffing's one of the best things about Thanksgiving!
Do you detest it? Like it okay but it's like eggs, it's better with other things like gravy, sauces, dressing, etc.
Cranberries canned or made? Homemade. It's not that difficult and they're so much better!
That had to be an interesting job, there are bears out there.
