What is my profound thought of the week? We need a favorite local drive, when I lived in Orlando, it was the back road from Oviedo to Winter Springs (Tuscawilla), in Lexington it was the road from Versailles to Frankfort, here it is the George Washington Parkway from Alexandria to Mt Vernon. Pretty and relaxing.
Who deserves a slap this week? AI spambots. They post comments that write a quasi summary of the post, but what they are really doing is linking to their blogs packed with advertising. I mark them as spam and delete them. If they want to advertise on my blog, Adsense will be glad to sell them space. Five out of Five slaps.
Who have I talked to this week? Hmm, the week before was very social, this week has been kind of quiet. The father of a neighbor who was visiting for a few days, we talked about living here around the pool the other day.
What am I watching on YouTube?
- Brian's Life In France is a delightful spin-off from Escape to Rural France. He is a delightful Irish man, living and working in rural France who invites us along for the ride.

- Chateau Poseidon is a new channel, two guys from British Columbia who have bought a massive chateau and are laboring away on restoring it and building a new life. A cute youngish couple. They post once a week.

- Holly the Cafe Boat is back, after a long absence. They have a second baby, and have sold both boats - I hope their transition to land based vlogging goes well. They are really talented content creators.

- Printmaking with Eugene, a small channel that talks about the joys and challenges of creating as a hobby. He posts about once a week, and the videos are short, less than 10 minutes.

The spam bots can be so spot on, it can be hard to tell. I know some genuine commenters are using AI as their written English isn't great. I guess it is best to check their websites to judge.
ReplyDeleteClick through, the one I had the other day was selling travel planning in India.
DeleteLike me, you seem to be finding YouTube channels a welcome diversion from all the bad news and the crime dramas on regular TV.
ReplyDeleteThere is very little on regular TV that is worth watching.
DeleteI’ve been receiving between 10 and 50 (seriously, 50) spam comments a day. Fortunately, Wordpress screens well and almost every single one goes directly to the Spam folder. I how I would love a dedicated space for a studio. My office is my everything room. I might have to check out Printmaking with Eugene. 10 minutes is manageable!
ReplyDeleteMy office/studio/painting space, is in my bedroom. An extra bedroom was another $100,000 and I decided against it.
DeleteI love the out-of-the-way drives to get somewhere; the back roads. Most of the time a far more pleasant journey than the interstates!
ReplyDeleteI can set Ms. Garmin to avoid expressways.
DeleteI'm not quite sure how the look and feel of fall has snuck up on us so quickly. In London, the leaves were falling already and here it's not as light in the morning as it was before I left. It's till hot though. The heat takes a while to gradually come down.
ReplyDeleteIt has really cooled off here.
DeleteI don't watch YouTube like you do. I have Roku and Netflix and my PBS station has lots of good shows. My Dad loved to take drives and he would take us along on Sundays years and years and years ago. Brings back happy memories.
ReplyDeleteThe thing in common, is not much from the big three networks anymore.
DeleteSpammers are very annoying! Thankfully I receive very little but I moderate all comments and on my blog at the end of every post I make people aware that comments are moderate to deter spam!
ReplyDeleteI am embracing the cooler temperatures, because we had a very hot and humid summer here in Montreal, plus the wildfires, which made the air quality horrible.
YouTube is very handy to find almost anything we need.
My mind wonders and I still day dream in my sixty.
