In 1960's American Television there were two offbeat comedies, the Munsters, and the Adams Family. The Munsters centered around a comedic Frankenstein character, with Ct. Dracula as a father in law, the Adams Family was a rather normal family, with money, and very-very-very weird taste. Well there was Lurch the Butler, and Cousin It. Of the two, I think I liked the Adams Family better.
I liked The Munsters but I loved The Addams Family!
ReplyDeleteI's love to have them as neighbors,
DeleteI liked both. But had not been for Yvonne DeCarlo and Carolyn Jones, I suspect neither show might have went as far.
ReplyDeleteStrong characters,
DeleteThe Munsters, for me, was a cute kid’s show. The Addams Family was for everyone. I loved it. Will show the video you chose to Kid Brother when I finally see home. You’ll be friends forever. Lurch is his favorite character and I’m regularly required to play him.
ReplyDeleteI can see you playing Lurch
DeleteI loved both. I so, so wanted a 'Thing'. In my adult years I've thought of even more reasons why I would like a Thing.
ReplyDeleteSirri and Alexa are handy, but they can't hand us anything
DeleteHow did I ever miss that episode? Thank you Travel for posting Lurch rock star.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what we can find on YT
DeleteI too loved both but Addams Family were far better and it is no surprise they have endured into our psyches. Unlike the Munsters, who tried to fit in. the Addams reveled in their oddness and didn't care tuppence what others felt. Any nerd/outsider can identify with them.
ReplyDeleteI had never thought of it that way. Do you take my insurance?
DeleteI loved the Addams Family. I forgot all about that show.
ReplyDeleteFun times in American television
DeleteWe only got The Munsters where I lived in Canada. Didn't see The Addams Family until I was an adult. But you're right, I think it was the better show. And I love the movies! I think there's a new one coming out in the near future -- may be animated?
ReplyDeleteHopefully the shows live on someplace.
