Dinosaur Parking

I had my second dose of Pfizer Vax a couple of weeks ago.  How long before I start to feel safe?

I have had the same cell phone number since 1996, it is the only mobile number I have ever had, does that make me a dinosaur?

I never had an AOL email address, does that keep me from being a dinosaur?

I have only had 5 email addresses, a University account, 2 work addresses and 2 personal accounts.  I still prefer email to instant messaging or text messages.  I have no idea what SnapChat is, does that make me a dinosaur?

We still have a home phone. Does that make me a dinosaur?

I discovered we have a NetFlix account, I rarely use it.  I do use Amazon Prime video and YouTube a lot.  Does this offset my being a dinosaur?

The photo above, is dinosaur parking at National Harbor in Maryland, funny I always thought the dinosaur parking lot would be filled with Buicks, Cadillacs, and Lincolns.

  1. I think were all dinosaurs to some point. Im am in respect to having only ever had three emails, still have the same cell number since I got a cell phone, and I don't do online shopping, or amazon, online book things like Kindle, none of those new fangled channels like Net Flicks and such, general cable package. I mostly watch PBS. The only appliances I have to help in the kitchen are a microwave and a Kitchenaid and toaster...everything else done by hand, and coffee is slow dripped.

And I still hand write letters to family and long ago friends. I'm a young dinosaur.

    1. I once asked an expert how he defined aging, his answer was if you have been born, and you are not dead yet, you are aging.

  2. And Edsels.

No, not ALL these things make you a dinosaur... but some I'm sure do. Just ask any teen or 20-something. Still, you're one fierce dinosaur.

  3. We are pretty much the same. More a traditionalist than a dinosaur, I resent being held to ransom by technology.

You are a dinosaur like me, I had my first Astra Vax yesterday and I am still here. I don't know that we will every really feel safe.
Snap, my first mobile phone in about 1996, Few people would really know that anyone's phone number like mine that that begins with 0419 deserves respect.
I think I have seven personal email addresses and some of them are checked daily.
We still have a landline and it more bother that it is worth. It comes with our internet connection.
We pay $9 per month for Britbox and nothing else.
As we describe here, I have photos of a magnificent Yank Tank to come soon.

we are NOT dinos, we are intelligent people who believe in the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". fuck the naysayers and the oh-so-hipsters!

    1. And if it is broke, but it doesn't bother me, why fix it?

  6. I think we each have those little habits that date us. I don't think I would have made it through this pandemic without Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Why are those dinosaurs in that parking lot?

  7. I still have my AOL (All Old Ladies) account. Why the hell not? I've had the same landline phone number for close to thirty years. I don't have to remember to charge the sucker. If this makes me a dinosaur, so be it. D-rex is in da house! Whatever that means.

  9. We are even more dinosaurs than you - no cell, no subscription TV services, only do email and write personal letters to people, never had a microwave, heavily use the library for books and DVDs, use a place on the web for watching series and movies for free, hate waste, make wonderful meals from discounted food and talk to real people in person - with a mask on. We are getting along really well being able to adapt to restrictions and find ways to do things instead of complain about not being able to do as we used to do. We are old and living the life!

  10. I am still afraid to go out much, or be around people, despite both shots done a month ago. Same cell number I’ve had since day one.
    We have a landline.
I’m on my second email ever.
I prefer email to texts and FB messenger.
I still send written cards and occasional letters.
Only use FB (to connect to long distance friends) and Tumblr (for comic book art.)
I still prefer printed books to digital.
And my record player to streaming music.
We have microwave, toaster, blender, and food processor.
And we still use manners, even with each other.
We are streaming whores with no apologies, being our primary source of entertainment especially now (Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+)
BUT, we are a technology household: 2 laptops, 2 iPhones, 2 apple watches, one iPad, 5 Apple TV’s, 7 homepods and everything voice controlled (lamps, TVs, heaters, etc.)

    I am ALL about convenience!
