Spikey

I never really learned to skateboard.  Both of my brothers did to some extent, they were naturally graceful and fearless.  I enjoy watching talented skateboarders.  Cities have struggled with stopping skateboarders and trick riders from riding down railings, steps and banisters.  I thought this was a rather creative solution, the spikes look like they belong there.

Have you ever mastered skateboarding?

I've never tried and it is too late now. I like the look of the electric skateboards.

    1. Back in the mid 60's my oldest brother came down the side of Camel Back Mountain on a wood skate board with steel wheels, and lived to tell about it. I need to get dad's 8mm movies scanned. I went to part of the first grade in Phoenix.

  6. I never have. When I was a school librarian at a middle school in Monterey, California, we had a special room in the admin building for the kids to store their skateboards during school hours. Since they were too young to drive, many students "rode" their skateboards to school.

I'd love to ride an electric bike, but it would be better if it were an adult electric trike!

    1. I have rented electric bikes a few times, it really helps flatten the hills. There are a couple of electric trikes on the market, I have thought about one with a nice basket for grocery shopping. I live on top of a 100 foot tall hill.

    2. Excellent idea. The kids had to go up a very steep hill to get to the school, so I'm assuming they carried their skateboards up the hill and went on from there.

  7. Back when I was a kid, the skateboards were a lot smaller and narrower than the ones today. I tried to ride one of my friends' board. Once. I fell off. Big feet and no sense of balance. Give me roller skates anytime instead!
