Iconic Shape

The TranAmerica tower in San Francisco, The Hancock Building in Chicago, The Empire State Building, The Pickle in London, iconic buildings that people recognize based on their shape.  Not every city has one, and I see them as different than monuments, like the Eiffel Tower, or the Washington Monument.

Should every city have an Iconic building?

  1. Not if they all have to be phallic in nature. Then they become kind of uniform, don't you think? Tongue is planted firmly in cheek :)

  3. Sure. But nicer if they’re not built for that purpose and the city simply is lucky enough to have buildings that become iconic. And as I think about I, that makes absolutely no sense. So, just, es.

  4. I think all do don't they? Someone picks one out as 'the one'.?
