I remember Rosie the Jetson's robot housekeeper. She was human like and stereotyped in the feminine homemaker role of the last century. Rudolph, our housekeeping robot is not at all like that.
Rudolf arrived at Christmas time, and the app asked us to name him, hence the name. He sends us messages if he is in trouble, or lost, or needs his bin emptied. He is round, and close the floor. He runs in what was described as a "drunken sailor" pattern, meaning he meanders around, bumping into things and changing directions in a random pattern.
Unlike Rosie, he is not at all human. He is built to do a job, and he does it well. I was a little hesitant to spend "THAT MUCH MONEY" on a self propelled vacuum cleaner, but he was worth every penny. The floors have never been cleaner. We do a little touching up in places he can't get to. But much less than what we needed to do before and the floors are always cleaner than they were before. He is cleaning my bedroom floor as I write this.
Now I need a robot that cleans my bathroom.
Have you tried robotic with house cleaning?
Until there is a robot that does all the cleaning. and is self sufficient like a rosie, I'm doing it all myself. Besides it will never be better or more fun to look at than my houseboys, or live up to my Crawford-sque side.
ReplyDeletewhat is this "house cleaning" of which you speak?
ReplyDeleteMy Rare One has had a roomba for years. She LOVES it! In fact, she's on her second one now. I love how it docks itself when its battery is low.
ReplyDeleteWe have a robotic vacuum cleaner that specializes in pet hair. Hubs being a fan of Get Smart growing up, we named it Hymie.
ReplyDeleteHa! I had the exact same thought as Anne Marie! Unless one of those things can jump up and clean the potato patches on my furniture, or mop, I'll stick with Balder Half. I'll deal with the bleach fumes burning out my nose hair, he's worth it.
ReplyDeleteI would need a robot that did it all: dishes, bathrooms, toilets, dusting, windows, laundry, ironing. Until that comes along... and assuming I could afford it... I’ll stick to our housekeeper.
ReplyDeleteI am willing to try anything that does some housekeeping so long as it isn't I.
