Sunday Five - Wildlife
I can remember when my idea of wildlife was partying late into the night. I loved the dance floor, and all of the pretty things around it, and being up and at the gym at 6:00 AM the next morning (how did I survive?) Now wildlife is what I see outside, in the wild. Hence this weeks Sunday five, wildlife.
1: Have you seen a bald eagle in the wild?
2: Have you seen a bear in its natural habitat?
3: Have you seen a moose in the wild?
4: Have you ever gone whale watching?
5: Do you go fishing?
My Answers:
1: Have you seen a bald eagle in the wild? Yes, the first few were in Florida, the picture above is a bald eagle over the Potomac River, just down the hill from home.
2: Have you seen a bear in its natural habitat? I have seen them in the Shenandoah Mountains, and at IML in Chicago.
3: Have you seen a moose in the wild? A cow and calf crossing a stream in Montana.
4: Have you ever gone whale watching? I did a Whale Watching Cruise in Honolulu. The cruise allowed me to see a lot, despite the being in really poor health at the time.
5: Do you go fishing? The last time was about 40 years ago, I sometimes wonder if I should try it again.
Your answers in the comments.
1: Have you seen a bald eagle in the wild? Yes. there was one here a few years back soaring above the park. On a side note, I am watching for the third year the eagles on a Florida cam, Harriet and M-15. There eaglets just hatched about 8 days ago. I get hooked watching them. And once there grown its sad to see them go. I watch it every day till there gone.
ReplyDelete2: Have you seen a bear in its natural habitat? Yes. When I was a wee one hiking with my parents, my dad got us lost...(one of the few hundred times my mother threatens to kill him...) and a came very close to a huge bear and it seemed to pay us no mind. I can still picture it.
3: Have you seen a moose in the wild? No...but they are so cool. I love to see one.
4: Have you ever gone whale watching? Many times when in P-Town. They are so cool to see. How something so huge moves so majestic and smooth is amazing.
5:Do you go fishing? Used to all the time...no interest in it anymore.
1: yes
ReplyDelete2: no
3: no
4: no
5: no
1. No
ReplyDelete2. No. One hustled through our campsite in Yosemite one night. I missed it.
3. No.
4. Yes. A school field trip. Whales never showed up. A few breakfasts reappeared though.
5. No! Not since I killed that mother fish. I don't eat fish and I never understood the mounting of fish (other than by other fish, if they do that kind of thing.)
OMB, your answers to #4-5 made me pee!
Delete1: Have you seen a bald eagle in the wild? In Alaska, on a lake trip for a cruise line.
ReplyDelete2: Have you seen a bear in its natural habitat? No
3: Have you seen a moose in the wild? In Maine, while driving along a country road, a moose was grazing in a cemetery.
4: Have you ever gone whale watching? Again in Maine, on a sailing vessel cruise out of Boothbay Harbor, and another time a whale watching expedition out of San Francisco.
5: Do you go fishing? Deep sea fishing, once from Cape Cod, in 1971, another time off of the coast of Oregon in 1969. No real pond or lake fishing.
Yes to all of them!
ReplyDelete2. Yes, I've seen a bear at IMl. My husband was a contestant in 1985. I was along for the ride. Surely we two are not the only ones out there who've seen bears at IML!
ReplyDelete1: oh sure lots of time.
ReplyDelete2: again yes - having gone to Alaska a lot.
3: same
4: going to Alaska takes care of all of this
5: oh stop

ReplyDelete2: Have you seen a bear in its natural habitat? In national parks, but never (thankfully) during a hike or while camping.
3: Have you seen a moose in the wild? Yes. And more than I could count in Northern Norway last year.
4: Have you ever gone whale watching? Yes. San Diego. Maui. Santa Barbara. So much fun. Still haven't done it here.
5: Do you go fishing? Yes. Never did anything for me.
Just out of idle curiosity, Mitchell, have you ever mounted a fish? Heh.
DeleteDeedles: That's awfully personal... (Could I get arrested if I were to tell?) Um... No.
