For years, I always choose aisle seats, on the left side of the airplane, as far forward as possible. I like window seats, I like the view, but I am a large person (okay fat) and I can lean into the aisle but I can't lean out the window. Recently I have taken a window seat a few times. I do enjoy the views.
I have two pet peeves on window seats.
1: People who sit in the window seat, and close the shade. I like to look out the window, even if I am not sitting next to it. I take pride in NEVER having been airsick, part of that is being able to fix my gaze on points in the distance, harder to do when the shade is closed.
2: Windows you can't see out of, if you are more than 5'2" tall. This was a new 737 - 800 and I can't see without craning my neck. On the connecting flight I was on a small regional jet with a nice window higher up on the wall and easy to see out of.
What is your pet peeve about flying?
The other people.
ReplyDeleteThe last flight I took a guy beside me insisted on having his legs right up against mine. Drove me nuts
Maybe that is what he was trying to do?
DeleteEVERY DAMN THING; that's why I don't fly. plus my fear of heights and claustrophobia.
ReplyDeleteI hate the whole airport experience! Also, plane seats seem to be made for skinny people with short legs. Don't get me started on seat belts made for folks without front butts! I prefer the window seats because I don't get up to go to the bathroom. This way, no one has to crawl over me. I would take a huge emergency for me to ever get on another plane.
ReplyDeleteYou're looking good in that photo, sunshine.
the penguin ALWAYS looks that good, deedles!
DeleteCarebear, when you're right, you're right!
DeleteMy pet peeve about flying? Don't get me started! But I prefer window seats as I can lean against the wall (and not get knocked into by other passengers and flight staff in the aisle -- a pet peeve). Passengers behind me kicking the seat, snapping the tray table up and down, tapping away on keyboards; coach (my most common situation); no leg room; crap tray tables; insufficient and inaccessible storage; self-important passengers; passengers near me with awful body odor... Oh, just tell me to shut up now.
ReplyDeleteYou are just getting started! I asked!
DeleteIt’s not the flying that’s the problem. It’s the bit before and after! I recently got on a flight at London City Airport. The guy in the front row suddenly stood up and said he was too scared to fly so got off. New rules meant EVRYONE had to get off so the plane could be “searched”. Then we had to go through passport control even though we hadn’t gone anywhere. Next was a trip through security for the second time. To add insult to injury I got stopped and told I had too much liquids in my bag - and Id already been through the process once already! We ended up taking off 2 hours late.
