Take Me Back There
I clicked something on my desktop computer at home (Windows 10) and when the machine is not used, it starts to randomly play through the picture files on the computer. There are about 40,000 image files on the computer, and growing, a little over 100-gigabytes - 50 times the size of the hard-drive on my first computer. As the images scroll by, they take me back to places I have been.
I took this picture in St-Malo, about 10 years ago. Seeing it takes me back to the fortified old city, wandering the back streets, smelling the sea. It was a wonderful day.
What takes you back?
Lately, it's been my pictures from Buenos Aries and Amsterdam. I definelty need to travel abroad more.

ReplyDeleteNothing takes me back more than an aroma that reminds me of a place, time or feeling. Such as the scent of a fresh daffodil taking me back to a carefree spring day of my childhood or the smell of cafe-con-leche taking me back to the streets of Caracas on my first International trip as an exchange student in 1981.

ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about photos and videos, they preserve our wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteI close my eyes and retreat into the inner compartment of my mind to remember what I can. Music also is my way.
