Five Questions About Footwear
These are probably the oldest shoes I have ever seen, found in a tomb from ancient Egypt, and on display in the Metropolitan Museum in New York city. I recently wrote about leaving the office in a hurry and finding myself in the back seat of a limousine wearing my everyday running shoes. This gets me to thinking about footwear. I have long liked shoes, one time I went to the office wearing a different pair of shoes everyday for a month, just to prove that I could. I own fewer pairs of shoes today, but still likely more than average. Age and weight have made comfort a priority over style most of the time.
We all wear footwear of some kind, let's learn about one another.
1: How many pairs of shoes, boots, and sandals do you own (we will wait while you go count)?
2: When you are hanging out around the house, do you prefer to wear footwear, or go barefoot?
3: Have you ever driven a car or truck barefoot? (Doing so is legal in some states.)
4: Describe the most expensive pair of shoes or boots you have ever bought?
5: When buying shoes, which is more important style or comfort?
My answers:
1: How many pairs of shoes, boots, and sandals do you own (we will wait while you go count)? - 33
2: When you are hanging out around the house, do you prefer to wear footwear, or go barefoot? - barefoot - I have been known to run around the office barefoot.
3: Have you ever driven a car or truck barefoot? (Doing so is legal in some states.) Yes, it is legal is Florida
4: Describe the most expensive pair of shoes or boots you have ever bought? - Bruno Magli alligator loafers. I bought them in an outlet store for a really great price - but still more than I should have spent. They fulfilled a fantasy. I bought them in the peak of my running days, when I picked up a little weight my feet spread half a size and I had to donate them.
5: When buying shoes, which is more important style or comfort? - Comfort comes first, I have owned to quote OJ, "some ugly ass shoes" but they were comfortable.
1: 4 - 2 pairs everyday clogs, 1 pair house slippers, 1 pair snow boots
ReplyDelete2: house slippers
3: nope
4: my snow boots; almost $200; they are over 20 years old; leather with a doc martens-style shit kicker sole
5: COMFORT!
1. I THINK less than 30. 2. Footwear (socks or slippers). 3. Yes. From the beach and only a short distance. It always felt weird to me. 4. I've gotten carried away... often. Ferragamo loafers, Lucchese ostrich belly cowboy boats, Mephisto casuals. 5. Definitely comfort (although I have sometimes convinced myself that shoes were comfortable because I liked the style so much).
ReplyDelete1: Seventeen ... from dressy shoes to slippers and everything in between.
ReplyDelete2: I go barefoot most of the year, but winters call for slippers.
3: Yes, I have; growing up in California I went barefoot all Summer long, even when driving.
4: I bought a pair of Doc Marten brown leather ankle-high boots that were regularly $195 and I got them for $99.
5: Can't I have both? And if I can't, gosh, can't I have both? i love me some style and I love me some comfort but, gun to me head, .... style. Dammit!
and they say WOMEN are shoe whores...look at these answers and tell me who the real fashionistas are! :)
ReplyDelete(hint - it ain't ME!)
The only worst than a shoe whore is a gay shoe whore!
Deletebwhahahahahahaha!
DeleteAll this is fun! I love your answers and must find the sneakers in limo post! Well, I currently have 22 pairs. Of the 22, 2 pair are boots, another 2 are athletic sneakers for running, 6 various dress or broges, and the remainder are Jack Purcell sneakers in a myriad of colors! When I'm hanging around the casa, I'm either bare foot and pregnant, or I wear flip flops, or a pair of cashmere slippers.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't drive bare foot. Tried once and couldn't stand the feel of it.
My most expensive were the Brian Atwood ankle boots I bought. My ex wanted to kill me.
I admit to style with dress shoes. But I could live in my Purcells!
Now when I was doing drag, that was a different ball game! We won't go there.
these are fun; I look forward to them.
ReplyDelete1: How many pairs of shoes, boots, and sandals do you own - I guess about 10
2: When you are hanging out around the house, do you prefer to wear footwear, or go barefoot? Going barefoot on the tile causes hurt; I wear sandals.
3: Have you ever driven a car or truck barefoot? (Doing so is legal in some states.)Yes, but it feels not right.
4: Describe the most expensive pair of shoes or boots you have ever bought? I think about 200 dollars.
5: When buying shoes, which is more important style or comfort? comfort.
You have a fun blog. I'll play.
ReplyDelete1. How many? Ok, my shoes are all over the house, and I'm lazy. So I will guess between 20-25. And that's probably over estimating.
2. Barefoot or shoes? Barefoot, almost always until winter when it's just socks.
3. Driven barefoot? Absolutely, and I have no idea if it's legal or illegal in NJ
4. Most expensive? Hmm. I really don't know.
5. Comfort or style: I'd have to say comfort, although I'll skip them if they're ugly ass. I go barefoot most of the time anyway.

1) 18 pair that I can readily think of without walking all the way up there.
ReplyDelete2) Barefoot
3) Yes I have as I'm from Appalachia and live near the beach these days, both qualify for this.
4) Cole Hann cowboy boots. Beautifully embossed without being too outlandishly country western black at the shoe evel and brown up the legs. Found them at Nordstrom years ago and they set me back about $450. Only cowboy boots I've ever owned and they are so comfortable.
5) Comfort
