My Answers:
1: Have you ever watched the "Bake Off" as it is known in the USA the "Great British Baking Show"? Yes several seasons of it.
2: What was the first thing that you "baked?" Either chocolate chip cookies or apple pie.
3: Where either of your parents good at baking? My mother was good, my father never tried.
4: What would be your "showstopper" bake? Bread.
5: Given a choice, do you buy sweet or savory? Savory.

ReplyDeleteEvery series, although I preferred the earlier ones with Mary Berry. The baking has become very silly lately.
2: What was the first thing that you "baked?"
A rhubarb pie.
3: Where either of your parents good at baking?
My mother was a wonderful baker, quite a skill back in the days when the oven had a solid door and you couldn’t see what was going on inside!
4: What would be your "showstopper" bake?
Nigella Lawson’s chocolate Guinness cake.
5: Given a choice, do you buy sweet or savory?
I rarely buy baked goods but a fresh baguette is hard to beat.
Mary Berry was really great, and few things are better than a fresh baguette.

5. Both, like you a warm, crusty baguette is wonderful, and I like Danish pastries and Portuguese tarts.
For #1 that would be Mary Berry, she has a couple of great cookbooks out.

3: Where either of your parents good at baking? My mother wasn't bad but she was more interested in craftwork, The Women's Institute, reading and our garden. To her working in the kitchen was tiresome.
4: What would be your "showstopper" bake? Apart from Yorkshire puddings there would not be one.
5: Given a choice, do you buy sweet or savory? I would hardly ever buy baked products. My wife is an excellent baker. I have just come downstairs late on a Sunday morning and she has already baked a chocolate pudding and an egg custard tart ready for our Sunday dinner around 5pm.
Caterpillars? A mistake I hope!

3. My mother baked during the holidays. She's the reason I bake sweet potato pies by taste. My father was a big pot dinner man.

5. Both. I'm a bi-taster. I used to enjoy my bag of Fritos with M&Ms mixed in.

3. My mother was a good baker, except for bread. She was not good at that so didn't do it. Her flaky pie crust was to die for! Also her meringue on lemon meringue pies.
4. I don't think any of my bakes would qualify as a "showstopper," alas.
5. Oh, I usually buy SWEET. That's why I'm a diabetic.
I didn't know there was a Canadian edition.
