I am a planner, I start thinking months ahead about what comes next. This comes in handy when planning travel, while I can make plans at the last minute*, I often start planning a year in advance. I started looking at next year's grand adventure, while on this year's grand adventure.
I am already thinking about next year's blogs.
I enjoyed writing this year's Saturday Morning Post series on the 50 states, but they have drawn fewer and fewer comments. They are drafted and scheduled through the end of the year. So what to replace those with? I like the Saturday Morning Post theme, maybe creativity for next year.
I will continue the Sunday Five, a fan favorite, though it is a challenge to come up with questions every week.
Travel Tuesdays has gone well, and I probably have enough photos (about 100,000 at this point) to keep doing that for the rest of my blog life.
The Wednesday check-in forces me to pause and think about what I have done, where I have been, who I have talked with, what is next, what my plans are, what I am thankful for. To think about my World of Wonders.
The Friday Fs, have been fun allowing me to be funny (rarely), funky, foody, and fabulous (I haven't done that in too long).
Moody Mondays - causes me to pause and reflect on how I am doing. And to encourage others to focus on staying well, in what can be a crazy time.
The Thursday ramble, allows me to expound on whatever inspires me this week.
My overall goal is to keep it positive. Life is too short to let negative live in my mind rent free. Being angry consumes energy, I can better use the energy doing my little part to make the world a better place.
So there is a ramble, a talk about what is taking up space in my mind this week.
* When I was settling my father's estate, I arrived at my office one morning to a message from the lawyers in Florida that they needed me to sign the paperwork to sell the house the next morning. I booked an airline ticket, hotel, and rental car and went from the office to the airport that afternoon.

I agree with you about keeping things bright and positive, but life is not always bright and positive, and I don't think that can be ignored if you are seeking authenticity.
ReplyDeleteI can be very stoic at times.
DeleteI have no problem with anger when you work through it, understand it, and release it; it's when people hold onto it, letting it fester, and then exploding that I think anger is bad.
ReplyDeleteI get angry at things, people, work, politics, whatever, but I deal with it and let it go. I don't ever hold onto it to use as a weapon later on.
Whenever Carlos and I have a disagreement, I always start off with, "I'm not mad at you, but let me tell you why I'm mad."
Once we acknowledge how we are feeling, we can focus on making the world a better place.
DeleteI so admire your planning skills. I have a few blog posts scheduled for the future and it feels good to this go-by-the-seat-of-my pants girl knowing that they're there. I appreciate your positive posts. They bring a smile and food for thought to start the day.
ReplyDeleteWhen we leave on an adventure, I sometimes have a month of posts scheduled ahead of time.
DeleteYou are a planner extraordinaire!
DeleteI'm a bit of a planner too especially when it comes to travel. I like to know what's ahead. For my trip to London this last time, I actually made a list of things I wanted to do and I checked them off. I only missed three of the things on the list. Not too bad.
ReplyDeleteFor next springs trip, I have two days marked to do nothing.
DeleteSounds like you are an organized person, David. I enjoy your posts and appreciate the time you take to plan and write them.
ReplyDeleteI have always been wound a little tightly.
DeleteYours is perhaps the most structured, pre-planned blog I visit. In contrast, my blog is all about how the mood takes me and what pops up inside my skull. There is no planning. I am not saying that one approach is any better than the other.
ReplyDeleteI have thought often about ending my Friday Funnies but then I get input from my elves so I can't.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a planner. And write a to do list.
ReplyDeleteI admire your planning skills. I should have more long-term plans going.
