The theme for our end of the year arts show, is Reflections. I had this one printed, and the print is even better than the online version. The artist is inside, the photo was taken from outside with the building behind me reflecting in the window. |

Note the people laying on their backs on padded benches in the middle of the room, looking up at the ceiling. In the foreground is a mirrored table to allow you take photos of the ceiling while standing up. |
We stayed in Greenwich in 2019 and thought about visiting the naval college but time and energy levels meant we didn't, and it looks like it was well worth visiting.
ReplyDeleteThe Thames River Boats dock right in front.
DeleteThe Old Royal Naval College looks like a worthwhile stop. I love that they have that mirror and those benches for viewing.
ReplyDeleteIt was lay down, or topple over from looking up.
DeleteThat ceiling is stunning ... one could get lost just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteI did find it funny that the gentleman had that large professional looking camera around his neck and was using his phone for a picture???
I hadn't noticed that.
DeleteVery cool how the benches and mirrors accommodate viewing and photographing the ceiling! The Sistine Chapel would benefit from that technology too, come to think of it.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen the 2013 Marvel movie "Thor: The Dark World"? The final showdown at the end of the movie between Thor and the Evil Villain takes place in Greenwich, featuring the AI destruction of those gorgeous Naval Academy windows and the surrounding quad/grounds. Watching it made me want to visit Greenwich!
The time we were in the Sistine Chapel, you couldn't fall over, it was shoulder to shoulder, and NO PHOTOS (I got screamed it - I thought the sign was no flash.)
DeleteWow! Lots to see there!
ReplyDeleteAre you feeling safe in D.C. now that the troops are coming? What's next?! :o
Just the latest distraction. DC is just fine, I walked a couple of miles across the city yesterday.
DeleteThe last time I was there, I went to Greenwich to see the painted ceiling but the hall was closed. I'll try again on this upcoming trip. You took some great photos. I love your reflections shot. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI think they had done a recent cleaning / restoration.
DeleteAmazing
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot of art in a grand space.
DeleteThe photos and the beauty of the art is simply amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt was a special place to visit.
