Surprise

I seldom pull of a surprise, I am not very good at coming up with ideas and not sharing them.  Back in 2008 I pulled it off.

I booked a behind the scenes tour and "penguin encounter" for J's birthday.  I didn't tell him where we were going or what we were doing, only that we would be out for the afternoon and evening for his birthday.  You can tell from the grin on his face that it was a smashing idea.

I have a plan for his birthday / our anniversary this year, time will tell if I can pull this one off.

Are you able to pull off a surprise?

  1. yes I can...but the suspense kills me until it's time to spring the surprise on the "victim".

  2. Yep! Many years ago now when we first moved into this house, a friend gave us a very small gnome (instantly named Gnorman) as a joke. My partner got all cranky, saying someone would only steal it.
So I thought hmm... And took a bunch of photos with my sister's help of Gnorman in all sorts of interesting situations. A girl I worked with was going home to England on holidays so agreed to take several of them from Japan and a couple other places.
Once he noticed Gnorman's absence (he was hiding in the spare wardrobe the whole time), I posted the ransome note, which I wrote with glued on magazine letters). Lots of spelling and grammar mistakes of course.
Once all the photos had arrived, we took him out to dinner for some bogus reason with my sister and her family, whose children's belongings were in some of the pi tures. On the way there I said to partner to please not swear in front of the children, and wasn't he offended! Anyway,my sistsr casually asked to see the photos, the kids wanted to see them too, and Mr Partner just sat there goggle eyed as the kids said but that's my floatie, my bed, etc. I had so much fun! So did he eventually.

  4. I can and have. Jerry sucks at it. He hates to keep secrets. He surprised me with special guests at my 40th birthday party. It was so hard for him to keep from telling me that he drove me crazy. I was ready to divorce him before the party. I want the surprise YOU pulled off for J!
