Tall Ships

A reproduction of the ship the Lafayette sailed to north America to let the revolutionaries know that France would support them in the war for independence from England  is touring the east coast.  It was in Old Town Alexandria for a couple of days.  It is an amazing ship, the scale of it is hard to convey in images.  Is crossed the Atlantic in 38 days on this voyage.

From Alexandria, it is headed to Baltimore and I believe from there to Philadelphia and onto New York.  If you get a chance, go see it.

  1. reminds me of the HMS Bounty, from the movie "mutiny on the bounty".

we ARE supposed to have tall ships here soon, I believe, in time for 7-4.
