American Military Cemetery in Normandy

American Military Cemetery in Normandy

A visit to the American Military Cemetery in Normandy changed me. I will never again view Memorial Day as the start of summer, the first day to wear white shoes, the day after the fastest spectacle in motor sports. I will forever remember the sacrifice paid to secure the freedom of the society that we sometimes take for granted. The wonderful people of Normandy reminded me why France was worth liberating. Every American should make the trip to Normandy to walk among the 14,000 graves in the American Cemetery.

  1. I'm glad somebody remembers what Memorial Day is actually FOR. It's so depressing to me when people don't even know what it is and I've got a service member in my family currently overseas.

    Anyway, right on!

  2. You know I'm a cemetery kind of girl anyway - I'll visit one anywhere, any time! (If... I could afford to travel more.) :)
